About On Point Welcome to On Point Photographics, or simply On Point as I like to refer to it... On Point is an exciting new personal adventure I have embarked on in pursuit of a career as a professional photographer, primarily in the sphere of fast-paced Events. Starting out with a compact zoon camera a little over 15 years ago to capture the magical scenery I encountered on my many tramps throughout the western ranges region of Hawke's Bay, NZ, I soon progressed into the SLR world to ensure I got the best out of my travel and landscape photography. As I progressed and became one with my kit I finally made the inevitable shift into the Digital era in 2005, with a Nikon D70. This shift was well complimented by my background in I.T and before I knew it I was developing and printing my own work, I owned the entire process and overheads had dropped dramatically with the added benefit of being able to experiment and try new techniques at no cost! Bliss! My photographic aspirations were now at full speed. A little under a year ago, fuelled by the encouragement and partnership of a good mate, the brand On Point was born. Initially a joint venture, On Point grew very rapidly so much so that it outgrew the ability to accommodate the partnership due to us being at different stages in our lives and there were also geographic limitations, the Tasman Sea! The purpose of On Point was to share our photographs with the world rather than having them hidden away in a folder on our laptops. As well as enabling us to share our work with the world, On Point challenged our skillsets and provided a mechanism for improvement and self-assessment. With our work going live onto the World Wide Web, it is needlesstosay that we developed a strong critique of our own work. With the fundamental photographic skills under my belt and a decade and a half of experience coupled with this new mechanism for improvement, I have rekindled a passion for past hobbies and interests that compliment my style of photography, leading me to the pursuit of a career as an Event Photographer where I can capture people doing what they love doing, whether that be driving a 300hp rally car, enjoying an outdoor activity or participating in a local event! Now I will leave you to your own devices to assess my work. Please browse my galleries, purchase some images if you really like them or just simply ENJOY... Regards, Kahl Olsen kahl@onpoint.co.nz |
Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
